3/7/2024 0 Comments Battlefield 5 sales down![]() Sony has also earned my trust and in most cases I know going in it's gonna be good! It's not hard to find info about anything in 2019. Same with CDPR but they swing more towards a level of quality that again I know that I'm going to be getting a very quality experience. I always know what expectations I should have. When Ubisoft announces an AC game or Far Cry game, I know what I'm getting. At a certain point they went "full retard" and as Tropic Thunder taught us you never go "full retard!" Capcom has done a marvelous job of righting its ship with RE7, MM11, MHW, DMC5 and RE2 Remake. Capcom and Konomi are good examples because for decades they delivered some of the hottest games. Now that's not to say a studio or publisher are always at the top of their game because sometimes it fluctuates. I've been gaming since 1985 or there about and in those 34 years you get a handle on who delivers what. Maximizing investment for the short term only works for the short term, while having a solid core customer base will always bring you success if you provide for them. EA can make tons of money through many means, and it doesn't need to screw over the customer to do it. If any investor actually hears this, realize that just getting a new guy that you hope can sell the idea of fleecing the customer isn't the right path. ![]() It usually comes either right before, or right after, they fire execs, and bring in someone new. It hasn't worked the 3 or 4 times they've done it in the past, but I have a feeling it's coming. Unfortunately, for EA, they've spent too many years pissing off the gaming community, that just now saying that they're going to do better isn't going to work so well. ![]() Yeah well, EA execs are stupid, and think their investors care about this kind of stuff, and multiple failures won't be scrutinized to see if it's a matter of EA going the wrong path, and putting too much effort into paradigms which aren't the golden goose like they were not too long ago, and wondering if diversifying more may be more prudent. There is still money to be made, but it's being taken up more and more by fewer games, just like Fortnite is commanding most of the MP shooter market right now. Sega and Square losing money on mobile isn't a rare occurance right now, and many mobile publishers or devs are seeing things drop off heavily. Same thing that's happening in mobile right now. The problem is, everyone else is using the same basket, and the market becomes oversaturated, and then you get a crash. In the meantime, they put all their eggs into one basket. But to them, they treat it as if that's what most people want, when it's not. Even BFV is going to be a cash cow for them, because it still sold over 7 million copies, and people are playing it. The risk is too great, and they feel that MP is a cash cow. A modestly or very successful SP game isn't enough for them. They don't think what can be successful, they think what can make them the most money. It's why they aren't making as many big SP games anymore. That's how some of these big publishers think. A feeling that was echoed by Spencer, although he was more accurate with how he described it as being complicated. But, EA doesn't look at it's poor quality, or at least perceived poor quality, as the reason that it sold bad, they look at it as SP games aren't as in demand as they once were. It had potential, and they obviously set it up to be a multi-part game.likely a trilogy. Mass Effect Andromeda would have sold bucketloads if they put more effort into it, and the story.
